Sierra the bulletsmiths reloading software
However, it features the famous Sierra accuracy and is certainly an excellent choice for long-range accuracy under all conditions. If a boat tail bullet with extremely high accuracy fits your needs for target shooting, then this bullet should be your choice.
HPBT 55 Gr. This bullet delivers devastating expansion on varmints and small game, and in many rifles it routinely delivers match-grade accuracy, which are vital considerations for long-range varmint shooting. The large, open point makes this a very dependable bullet for all 22 centerfire cartridges, except the very smallest where case capacity limits muzzle velocities with 55 grain bullets.
In handguns, this Hollow Point Boat Tail 55 grain bullet with its cavernous opening can be used for short-range varmint shooting in handguns chambering the Remington or larger cartridges. This bullet is built with Sierra's high velocity design and is capable of extremely high accuracy. SBT 62 Gr. Capable of outstanding accuracy, this bullet can be an excellent choice for varmints and small game in many early 22 centerfire rifles, which have slower twist rates than those commonly used today.
The Semi-Point shape reduces bullet length for a given weight, making the bullet easier to stabilize. The penalty is that a Semi-Pointed bullet has a lower ballistic coefficient than a Spitzer-pointed bullet of the same weight. This bullet can also be used in modern rifles with faster twist rates. In handguns, because of the velocity constraints caused by short barrels, the primary usefulness of a semi-point bullet design is in cases where the twist rate may not be adequate to produce the best accuracy with a spitzer bullet.
The relative shortness of the semi-point design can improve bullet stabilization and accuracy. This bullet will not give explosive expansion at longer ranges, but due to the wide jacket opening and generous exposed lead tip can be useful at shorter ranges for fur bearers whose pelts are to be preserved.
Quickview 6MM. This is the heaviest bullet Sierra produces in the 45cal pistol lineup and should be used in a 45 Colt if penetration is a must, and it can work in the Casull or similar cartridges easily. It has an established reputation in the game fields of North America and is considered to be the bullet for hunting dangerous game with a handgun.
It is not, however, recommended for deer-size game because of its hardness. Because this bullet has a cannelure and can be roll-crimped, it may be loaded in cartridges and used in modern rifles with tubular magazines.
When seated to the cannelure, this bullet can have an overall length that may not feed well in some lever action rifles with a shorter carrier.

It will withstand exceptionally high velocities and can be loaded in all 30 caliber cartridges, including magnums. It offers explosive expansion on varmints and small game at velocities achievable with the full range of 30 caliber cartridges. This is an ideal bullet to choose for off-season practice on varmints with any 30 caliber hunting rifle. The is new for The Sierra Scrapbook.

If you consider the large number of serious marksmen and hunters who use nothing but Sierra and their many accuracy records, we believe we accomplish our objective of a better bullet.
Sierra began in in a California Quonset hut building. At the time, World War II had just ended, shooting popularity was rising to unprecedented levels and the supply of high-quality ammunition was limited. Shooters were discovering that to satisfy their own demand, reloading was the answer. A few years later, an accomplished competitive shooter named Martin Hull joined Sierra. Martin brought with him an understanding of the market and the ability to translate ideas into a finished product.
He was the manager of our ballistics laboratory for nearly 20 years. While integrating the best of the old with the new, we enhanced our tool and die shop, upgraded our metallurgical laboratory and quality control systems, redesigned our process for washing and polishing bullets, and improved our bullet assembly equipment.
Our shining star, however, was the construction of an underground, meter test range, the longest privately owned underground bullet test facility in the world.
Without it, we would not be able to conduct the degree of accuracy testing necessary for our stringent quality control requirements, nor would we be capable of producing the reloading manuals at the level we do. Another significant addition to the Sierra arsenal was the development of our Bulletsmiths service and Toll-Free Tech Line. Every weekday, literally hundreds of marksmen call in and talk with one of our experienced ballistic technicians.
Even if a caller is not using a Sierra bullet, our technicians are trained to have the answers to their questions about products, methods, and performance. Quality begins with the raw material. To ensure that only the most uniform materials are used, we check the grain size of the raw materials we buy with sophisticated metallurgical equipment.
Since our move to Missouri, our tool and bullet design department has evolved from the traditional drawing board to a sophisticated computer aided drafting design system.
