Nothing really wrong with the pinned tenon joint, it's just not 'traditional'. The newer one is a much more comprehensive manual I have both books. Consensus seems to be, other than the 'tap tuning' section, it is a very good guide. Plans are close to Hogo's plans, which are considered some of the 'best' available right now.
